South of Rome you will find our Gebetsroither holiday region Campania. Lemon gardens and olive groves are part of the landscape here, the closer you get to the probably most famous volcano, Vesuvius in Pompeii. An hour further south, you are already in lively, cramped Naples with almost one million inhabitants. No one is prouder of the invention of pizza and Italian football traditions than the Neapolitans, as the locals call themselves here. Pizza is a national treasure here in Campania, and of course you notice and taste it here. But it is not only the city of Naples that is enchanting in Campania.
It is worth travelling to the Amalfi Coast by boat rather than by car. If you arrive at the small harbour of Positano, which is surrounded by pastel-coloured cube houses, domes and little staircases on a rocky backdrop, you feel like an actor who has just entered his film set. Campania includes Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento and Naples, as well as the thermal island of Ischia and Capri, which has become fashionable and is always well visited.
